Kathleen “Kathi” Clarey, age 77, of Northbrook, IL died peacefully at home, surrounded by her husband and daughters, on September 15, 2021, after a 5-year battle with cancer. Beloved wife of 56 years to Jack Clarey. Loving mother of Sherrie (Nikolai) Nachamkin and Suzanne (Bill) Casey. Proud grandmother of Andrew and Matthew Nachamkin. Dear sister of Kristy (Al) Lang, Mary (Joe) DeRusso, Theresa (Scott) Benz, Jodi (Randy) Hefel and the late Pat (the late Maria) Kingsley. Adopted sister-of-the-heart of nearly 50 years to Georganne “Jan” (Robert) Schweickert. She and Jack enjoyed international travel and lived in six cities before settling in Northbrook. She had a particular devotion to young children, having teaching degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Hawaii. She was active in numerous church ministries in Northbrook and Longboat Key, FL. There will be a funeral Mass at St. Norbert Parish in Northbrook at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 2nd, preceded by a memorial visitation at 9:00 AM. Interment of the cremains will be in Dubuque, Iowa, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Norbert Parish, 1809 Walters Avenue, Northbrook, IL 60062 or to the Salvation Army, in Kathi’s name.
