Obituary

Dorothy Ann DeNapoli (nee Yacullo) age 101 passed away peacefully on January 19th.  She was born November 20, 1919 in Chicago to Della and Charles. She was the youngest of six children.  In 1942 she married Philip DeNapoli and raised her five children in Rogers Park. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Phil and her daughter Donna Jean.  She is survived by her children, Phil (Sue), Danny (Lorren), Nancy, Jimmy (Shari), her grandchildren, John, Dina, Jeff (Colleen), Jenny Marino (Matt), Carney (Jamie), Sarah Wedmark (Kyle) and Nick.  She especially loved her fourteen great grandchildren. Dorothy was known for her love of life, her quick wit, her kindness, determination and her many friendships.  Her home always had an open door and she made everyone feel like family. She was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Gertrude’s parish for many years. She was also an advocate for mentally challenged children.  She worked as a teachers aid at Senn HS for 25 years. Dorothy was a Cub fan her entire life.  Even in her later years she enjoyed exercising, golfing and bowling. Most of all, she loved her family.  She will be dearly missed and will remain forever in our hearts. Covid-19 Restrictions will be in place, face covering and social distancing from 10:00am to 10:45am, after which there will be a family only Mass at St. Gertrude Church at 11:00am on Sat.Jan.30th, 2021. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to Collabrotive Care for Individuals with Autism , rimland.org .Funeral info: John E.
